I'm the owner and head tutor here at Equal Ascent Academics. I am deeply passionate about education equity and figured there was no better way to use that passion than to start this business.

I reside in East Texas with my husband, two children, three dogs, one cat, and a chinchilla. In my free time, I enjoy reading, writing poetry, being outdoors, and throwing pottery.

Professional History
My Story
As a non-traditional student for most of my undergraduate degree, I understand the unique challenges of supporting yourself and your family while getting a college education. I was deeply inspired by the many non-traditional students I had the pleasure of teaching while completing my graduate degree at a public university, and upon my graduation vowed to pursue education equity for all students, regardless of the circumstances they came from.
After working for a national online tutoring service as an essay reviewer, I realized that many students needed access to writing services, without the constraints and metrics required by a full-blown corporation. Thus, the seed for Equal Ascent Academics was planted.

Following the dissolution of DEI programs and race conscious admissions in universities, I decided to pursue a Pay-What-You-Can model for Equal Ascent Academics, so that every student has access to the resources and support they need to write admissions essays they are proud of.
